2nd Quarterly Tourism Enterprise development and Sector Transformation Session

 

Association (MPTA) hosted a second quarterly Tourism Enterprise development and Sector Transformation workshop on Thursday,15 October 2020).

 

This is part of a greater objective of the revised National Tourism Sector Strategy (NTSS) 2016-2026 to ensure the sustainable development and growth of tourism enterprises in a manner that facilitates inclusive participation, job creation and contributes to the competitiveness of tourism destinations.

 

Small and medium businesses are the life blood of the South African economy, these businesses are the driving force for economic growth and creation of jobs.

 

The information session elaborated on the key areas of the Tourism Enterprise Development including access to skills, finance and tourism products marketing. Presentations included Overview of the Sector and its subsectors, legal requirements for each sector and Tourist guiding training. Mike Zondo, Director of Small Enterprise Development Agency (SEDA) – uMgungundlovu presented on support that they provide to small businesses.

 

“Investing in the viability of SMMEs is critical to economic growth and job creation. I urge all present here today to collaborate with us in efforts to invest in SMMEs as the future drivers of our economy,”  said Dumisani Mhlongo –MPTA  Director.
