 Pietermaritzburg City Tourism Ambassadors : Certificates hand over by His Worship the Mayor Cllr Mzi Thebolla 

The City Tourism Ambassadors’ Programme is initiative of Msunduzi Pietermaritzburg Tourism and is aimed at creating proudly Pietermaritzburg volunteers and citizens who can confidently sell the City of Choice as a destination wherever they are and to whomever they meet.

By Law Enforcers were a logical group to include in the Programme as they are part of frontline staff for the city

This programme is congruent with the objectives of building a new city, improving destination image and enhancing visitor experience

The City Tourism Ambassadors Programme is aligned to SAQA ID 71549 – NC: Tourism Guiding and included the ff:

1.       Overview of tourism industry
2.       The tourists and their needs
3.       Know your city
4.       Tourists’ safety
5.       Customer service & communication
6.       Mini Research projects on city icons
7.       Assessments

‘It was important that our By Law Enforcers are exposed to the great tourism potential and unique attractions that are embedded in rich history & culture our our city but most importantly, to be able to impart the same to visitors and locals alike’, said Dumisani Mhlongo- Director of Pietermaritzburg Tourism.
